The admin passed away years ago but we have been using the boards without a hitch since we didn't need to make any changes. Well now we do. So what can be done? Thanks

From my knowledge, the Atlassian Team may be able to help in this specific circumstance, so I'm flagging one of them down for you. It can take up to 3 business days for them to get back.
In the meantime:
There are multiple angles you can go. If the admin's email is a company-managed email, and someone has access to that company's email provider, you should certainly be able to access the inbox that way.
