Hello, I am trying to create an automation rule where when a card is adding to Board A (with a red "Media Request" label, created via a template card) it creates a copy of the card on Board B and links the cards together. The automation rule however, below, appears to be triggering as soon as the "Create card from template" is selected on Board A, so while it's correctly creating a copy and adding it to board B, the linked card on board B is empty. I think it's essentially creating a copy of the template from board A, and not updating with the rest of the details that we fill out on the card on Board A.
Rule on Board A: when a card with the red "Media Requests" label is added to the board, copy the card to the top of list "Media Requests" on board "B" and link the cards together
Thanks for any help!
Hi @Sara Wiskerchen ! Welcome to the community :) your automation is triggered when a card is created, so I'm guessing at that point there is no information in the card? You'd probably want to look at changing the trigger to something else so that the card copies once all the information has been populated, rather than immediately after card creation. For example, once a certain field is populated, or once it moves to a certain list.
@Hannah Humbert - Simpla Workflows is correct here. What you can do is set it up so that you create the card from template in a list, lets call it New...You complete all of the relevant info in this list then move card to the stage you want it to be copied, I'll call it Ready to Copy for this example. Then you just have to change your existing automation to trigger from when a card is moved into "Ready to Copy"
