Request for Temporary Access to My Former Trello Account

Malika Zakaeva
September 5, 2026

Dear Trello Support Team,

I am writing regarding my former Trello/Atlassian account, which was registered with an email address in Russia.

On October 10, 2023, I received an email informing me that Atlassian was winding down its operations in Russia and Belarus and that my account would be terminated within 30 days. The email advised me to export my data before the account was terminated.

Unfortunately, at that time I was unable to export my personal data before the deadline, and I have now lost access to important information stored in my Trello account.

I understand and respect the decision regarding the termination of accounts in the affected regions. However, I would like to kindly ask whether it would be possible to temporarily restore access to my account for just 24 hours, or for any limited period you consider appropriate, solely so that I can export and save my most important personal data.

I would be very grateful if you could make an exception in this case. I am not requesting continued use of the Trello service; I only need temporary access to retrieve my own data.

I can provide any information necessary to verify that I am the owner of the account.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I sincerely hope you can help me recover my important data.

Kind regards, [MALIKA Z.]

Hello and welcome to Atlassian Community @Malika Zakaeva

Addendum: The temporary 24-hour reactivation examples are from the 2023 Russia/Belarus shutdown and are historical precedent, not a current guarantee. That you should remember.

Atlassian also confirmed that some blocked/deactivated Trello accounts no longer have recoverable board data.

Support is the right path, but only they can confirm if this account’s data can be temporarily restored or exported.

You can also try to contact Atlassian using https://www.atlassian.com/company/contact/purchasing-licensing#/  billing and licensing form.

Best,

Arek 🤠

Hi @Malika Zakaeva

Could you please log a ticket at https://www.atlassian.com/company/contact/purchasing-licensing#/ billing and licensing form, and also include the old account email privately in the ticket so the team can look into this further.

Hi @Malika Zakaeva ,

I'm requesting assistance from Atlassian support to get help with this. They can let us know if it's possible to recover the data.

Hi Malika, welcome to the Atlassian Community!

This is something only Atlassian Support can handle, but there is at least some precedent for the kind of temporary access you’re asking for.

In older Community cases related to the Russia/Belarus shutdown, users reported that Atlassian Support was able to request a temporary 24-hour reactivation so they could export their data. One user later confirmed that access was restored after Support processed the request.

So I would definitely open a Trello/Atlassian Support case from your new account and clearly ask for:

temporary reactivation only for data export;
confirmation that you can verify ownership of the old account;
preservation/export of the Trello data if temporary access is still technically possible.

I would also include the old account email privately in the support ticket, not here in the Community.

Atlassian’s current Trello guidance still says that if access was blocked and you believe it was in error, you should contact them through the support form.

I can’t guarantee they’ll still be able to restore an account from 2023, but your request is reasonable and there is precedent for temporary reactivation specifically to export data.
