I've found that when I have an item as part of a checklist for a card, and then make that item become it's own card there is no link created between the two cards.
I've also found that when a card is linked to another as part of a checklist and you complete that card/task, it doesn't update it's parent task accordingly. When having a large amount of tasks to complete this would mean having to continually and manually update every checklist. Is there a way to have this done automatically or is there no autonomy for these functions?
Creating cards from automation would allow you to associate the two cards. One method I used was to drag and drop the item to another checklist and use the checklist name as a lookup to get a card template and the removing the item and use the {newcardlink} as the item name. In so doing, you can complete the new card and then check off the item which is the cardlink. Checkout my profile to see some articles on how some clients are using this technique.
Hi Toby,
You're right, currently, neither of those two things happen, and it's not possible to enable that to happen. These are great ideas, though! At the moment, Trello doesn't do much in the way of automation, but I’ll definitely let the team know that this is something you're looking for!
