I have used Trello on both my MacBook and iPad for some years, but not recently. While I was using them I could switch from one device to the other and everything was synched across.
I recently had a notification on my MacBook to say I hadn't used Trello for a while and it needed updating. I did update it. but I have realised I used a different email address to the iPad account. So now they won't synch.
I tried changing the address on the iPad account but it won't accept the change because the 'new' email is already in use. I have also tried deleting the app on my iPad, and re-installing it, but it just went straight back to the old account.
I want to be able to use all my boards on both devices. How do I get them to talk to one another again?
Hi @Alison, welcome to the community! 👋
What you're running into isn't really a sync glitch. You now have two separate Trello accounts, one tied to each email address. Trello only keeps boards in sync across devices within a single account, so while your MacBook and iPad are signed in to different emails, each device shows its own set of boards and they can't see one another.
That also explains the two things you already tried:
To get all your boards back together, the cleanest route is to consolidate everything under the one account you want to keep:
Full step by step here: Merging and splitting multiple Trello accounts.
If you'd rather keep both accounts and switch between them, Trello also has an account switcher (mainly in the browser) so you can toggle without logging out each time: Switching between Trello accounts. For your goal of having all boards on both devices, though, putting them under one account is the simpler fix.
Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any questions.
Thank you, that has solved it! I'm not bothered about the old boards on the other account because they are rather out of date. Thanks for your help.
