Pricing - Users vs Collaborators

Thomas Devonshire November 6, 2025

Good morning,

I was unable to find any form of email, which is bizarre. Even the 'live chat' ended as soon as I sent a message, indicating it isn't working.

Anyways, I was hoping to get some insight into pricing. At my company we have created a Trello page and are very happy with it. We're wanting to proceed in purchasing a plan, however we're not sure what or how many plans we need.

I would interpret it as; 1 plan is needed, to which say 20 collaborators can use, rather than 20 plans needing to be bought for each person?

Any information in this would be much appreciated, thank you.

Hi @Thomas Devonshire !

A plan is just a set of features. Depending on the pricing, plans have or don't have certain features. Also, plans have certain collaborators (users) limitations. E.g. the free plan only supports 10 collaborators.

You may find more detailed info here: https://trello.com/pricing

Thanks for that. A colleague had raised the question whether we would need a plan per person, but we could happily work with 1 plan, with 10+ collaborators, right?

Yes, the plan is per person. According to this screenshot, Free is 0$ (but only if you have maximum 10 users), Standard is 5$ / user / month, Premium is 10$ / user / month etc.

So in case, let's say, you absolutely need one of the features which are only found in Premium, you need to buy premium for all users.

You cannot buy a couple of standard licenses and another couple of premium licenses, on the same environment.

Okay, but could one user purchase the plan, and the rest be collaborators? As we are simply sharing one Trello board between us for project management.

We we're all able to use the free trial, when only 1 person applied for it, which lead me to believe not all users needed to purchase the plan.

Again, thank you, I appreciate the help in clarifying this.

User and collaborator are the same thing. If the free plan suits you, you can use it for free.
