Please provide APK on the website

Currently, the only way to download and update the Android app is from the Play Store: https://trello.com/platforms

Not everyone wants to rely on a Google account to manage their apps, so please consider providing a direct APK download on the website, like Proton does, for example.

Thanks for the update. That said, relying exclusively on the Play Store can be limiting for some users. Not everyone wants or is able to use a Google account to manage apps, especially those who are more privacy-conscious or using de-googled devices. It would be great to see an official direct APK download option on the website, similar to what Proton offers. This would give users more flexibility while still allowing you to recommend the Play Store as the default option. Just something to consider — appreciate the work you’re doing on the Android app.indiadooflx flixfox

Hi @Nate Reinar Windwood

This is quite a niche request.  Being perfectly honest, I put the chances of this happening at <1%

I mean, it is kind of niche, but it also seems not very hard to do?

I actually agree with this request. Relying only on the Play Store can be restrictive, especially for users who prefer more control over installations or are using devices without Google services.

From a user perspective, having an official APK available directly on the website (with proper verification and version info) would definitely improve accessibility and transparency.

I’ve seen a few platforms already doing this by providing a clean download page along with installation steps and compatibility details — something like a structured guide really helps users avoid confusion during manual installs.

For example, I recently came across a setup page that not only provides the APK but also explains installation, device compatibility, and common issues in a very clear way:
https://onstremdownload.com/

Something along those lines could make the experience much smoother while still keeping the Play Store as the primary option.

Just my thoughts 🙂
