Pasting duplicate text

Recontact

When I copy something, and when I paste it in Trello, it might be pasted duplicated.

"Might be"? Yes, it depends where I paste it:

- while creating a new card, it is duplicated

- while editing a card inside the board list, it is not duplicated

- while editing a card inside the task modal, it is not duplicated

- while editing a description inside the board list, it is duplicated

- while adding in checklist, it is not duplicated

- while adding in a comment, it is duplicated

Hi @Recontact, this is almost certainly Firefox rather than Trello, and the Nightly build is the giveaway. Firefox has a long history of "paste inserts the text twice" regressions in editable fields, and the pattern you mapped fits it: the spots that duplicate (new card, board-list description, comment) are the rich text editor fields, while the plain inputs like the card title and checklist are spared. Nightly is the unstable channel where this kind of regression lands first.

Quickest way to confirm is to paste the same thing in stable Firefox, or another browser. If it behaves there, it's the Nightly build, and the fix is to use Release Firefox or wait for a Nightly update, ideally filing it on Mozilla's Bugzilla so it gets caught. Worth also trying a fresh Firefox profile or Troubleshoot Mode to rule out an extension. In the meantime, pasting as plain text with Cmd+Shift+V, or using the Edit menu's Paste instead of Cmd+V, usually avoids the double insertion (that older Firefox bug never reproduced through the Edit menu).

If it turns out to duplicate in stable Firefox too, then it points at Trello's editor instead of the browser, and that's when it's worth raising with Trello support, using the same field by field breakdown you've got here. It's a clean repro.
