×if an element from a checklist is converted into a card, in theory this should be connected to the main card, that is, where the checklist from which an element was converted into a card is present. therefore it should be possible to trace this and (my intention) is to get some data to add to the name of the new card created from the conversion of an element from the checklist......but i haven't been able to do this...first of all because even using variables, the connection to the motherboard doesn't seems to be present in the daughter card. do you have any suggestions??
Hi @MASSIMO ROBBIANO ,
Thank you for the details about your use case!
Currently, Trello doesn't provide a built-in option to automatically link a newly created card back to its originating card when an element from a checklist is converted into a card. Additionally, the checklist item disappears once it's converted, which makes tracking the connection more challenging. However, you aren’t alone in wanting this as we have had other users interested in this as well. With that in mind, I’ve added you as a “+1” to our existing suggestion, which you can access here: TRELLO-170
I have also added this post as an internal comment to this report so that way our engineering team can reference it and also use it to help align priority. I would also recommend you visit that suggestion, log in with your Atlassian account, and click Start watching this issue on the right panel. This will help our product and engineering team understand more about which functionalities our users are interested in. Also, when the ticket is updated by our product team, you'll be notified via email.
You can learn more about this by reading our Implementation of New Features Policy: New Features Policy
When a checklist item is converted into a card, the "Comments and Activity" section of the new card will show that it was created from a checklist item, along with the name of the card it originated from. However, this information does not include a clickable link back to the original card.
As a workaround, you might consider manually copying the link of the original card and adding it to the description or a custom field of the new card. This will create a reference point for tracking purposes.
