Wait for it, wait for it... After 2 years, it will surely be out in 5 when the new "sunrise mode" will become the norm :-)
No jokes, it's unbelievable how slow Atlassian is to make changes!

I was disappointed to read in the recent blog that the mobile apps have dark mode, however the web version does not. Surely there are on a magnitude of more users who use the web version, more frequently and for longer periods so that feature would have been more beneficial on the web version.

Brilliant. What will it take to get @atlassean 's attention?
They just rolled out all these new features like a Gantt chart timeline view, all of which are far more work than simply asking your graphic designer to tweak the colors.
@atlassean what is wrong with this photo?!

I;m not sure what you mean, as we're discussing the Mac App, not using it in a browser....

2023 and no dark mode.
This makes me avoid and dislike all Atlassain apps. Any time they are mentioned, my response is negative.
This. Is. Important.

It's pretty clear no one From Atlassian is following this thread. I suggest messaging the founders directly: https://www.atlassian.com/company/contact/contact-ceos
Also, here's all the company contact info: https://www.atlassian.com/company/contact

Can't believe we will have to leave Trello because the lack of this simple function. The lack of interest of Trello to care for it's customers in this sense is disgusting.

it's really absurd. You are 3 years behind your competitors (Monday, wrike, asana etc). you are a shame

Atlassian and Trello give us dark mode scumbags. Theres thousands of your own users that need dark mode. Absolutely ridiculous.

Atlassian clearly don't care in the slightest, so am unsubscribing from this thread - it's a waste of time.

There are health reasons behind supporting dark mode. It should be an easy Electron solution that replaces the CSS.

To add to what everyone else has said here: I too would like to have Night/Dark mode for the MacOS desktop app or Chrome, and without a Chrome extension. It is April 26, 2022 and I did confirm that Trello respects Dark Mode on the iPad and iPhone (iOS 15.x). Toggling my device Dark Mode settings in my iPad and iPhone do correctly change the Dark Mode settings inside the Trello app running on those devices.
However, neither the MacOS desktop application or the web-based version inside Chrome on my MacBook Pro respect the dark mode setting in my operating system (MacOS). I am evaluating Trello and this single issue might be a show-stopper for me, as the MacOS desktop app or the web-based version in Chrome are the primary places I am planning on using Trello. I use Dark Mode in every common application that I use.
For everyone saying that this is an "easy" feature for Trello, it probably is not. Yes, many modern tools have built-in support for Dark Mode, but every software vendor must make tradeoffs, and I would imagine that the fact that Trello seems to be offered on every device out there is challenging. Getting a software system to work well with every native device/OS out there is not easy. A software system/app that interacts with iOS ultimately interacts with MacOS in a completely different way. Add to that Windows, Android, etc etc. It's probably far more difficult for Trello to provide native support for Dark Mode on MacOS and Chrome than most people are suggesting on this thread.
However, if anyone is listening/watching this thread at Trello, I will probably not use Trello for my purposes due to this one issue, so yes it matters that much. I am a software engineer and mostly only use tools that offer native dark mode support (without the use of plugins/extensions/hacks).

I get that it probably isn’t as easy as one could imagine, it’s not a one line of code probably, but come on, making a dark mode is not a rocket science either.
And even if it was close to rockets, they could at least allow as to install the Trello iPadOS app on Mac with M1 processor via sideloading it - making it an option for the power users only. In fact I was already using it that way, because in the iPadOS app the dark mode works on Mac, but after few months Trello made the decision to block it 😡
It one thing to not make a feature that many users would love to have, but it’s another one making everything that people who want this feature can’t use it at all. I just don’t get it why they are treating users that way.
And yet I would like drop Trello long ago, but I can’t, because my company use it. What I can do however, is to recommend using any other software out there for their projects, when people ask my opinion about Trello 💁♂️

The recent change in the service and price hikes prompted our organization to reconsider planning tools and we've been trialing other systems with nominal success. We will likely not return to using Trello with future projects. We're voting with our wallet.
Which is a shame since it does what we need it to do, but a resounding 2/3 of the org doesn't like looking at bright screens for any length of time. They are a bunch of grognards that grew up with chromatic two tone screens with their now ocular degenerated eyes... it's no wonder they hiss when Trello opens. The other third doesn't care one way or the other.
Other than that it remains a decent flexible tool. Without something like a chrome extensions that potentially opens you to data sniffing (we are paranoid) it is untainable. Seems like a silly hill to die on, but here we are.

It boggles the mind that Atlassian still hasn't added this simple feature after more than two years of people begging for it. Time to start shopping around for a company that cares about their users.

Anyone know of any matching alternatives to Trello that offer darkmode? (Mac OS native app?)
It's literally the only app on my system left that hurts my eyes at night.

Would like to use Trello on a machine on which the Dark Reader extension is BLOCKED by my organization. I'd be happy with that if I could use it but I can't. I'm literally writing this with my browser window minimized to an itty bitty square so I'm not blinded in the early morning hours. Left Trello a while ago for my go-to project management app because without dark mode it's all but unusable for me, or at least there are other options out there. Came back this morning thinking, "They must have implemented it by now for web/desktop". Nope. Kind of shocked. And disappointed. Looking forward to using Trello again when this is implemented.
