Multiple types in a new field

How do you add multiple types in a new field? I'd like to add a checklist and dropdown in the same new field.

You won't be able to do this in one single field. Trello keeps Custom Fields and Checklists as separate features with fixed type. Once you set a field to a "Dropdown," it can't double as a checklist or be changed to another format later.

The best way to handle this is to keep them separate: use a Dropdown Custom Field for your main selection and a standard Checklist for the actual tasks. If you're worried about the manual effort of setting it up every time, you can use Trello Automation to automatically add a specific checklist whenever you select a certain option from your dropdown. It’s a much smoother workflow than trying to force two different features into one field.
