Is there a way I can automate assigning all items in a checklist to a one person?

Jill Barton September 29, 2023

I have a card with multiple checklists.  In one of those checklists, all of the items are assigned to one person.  Can I do one automation that will assign all those items to that person?  I know I can do the items individually, but it's too many.

Hi @Jill Barton

You can do this using the "for each checklist item" feature in the Cascade menu of the automation, as shown in the example below:

I don't think there is a way to select multiple items in a checklist and assign them all at once. That i can tell at least.

If you use the same checklist over and over again you could create it on another card, do all the assigning manually once. But then once you copy that checklist over to other cards it would retain the assignments.

Or, you can create an automation where, if you add specific text to the beginning/end of a checklist item it would trigger that item to be assigned to that person.

So you need a shorthand for each person. In my example below, typing "-KS" would assign it to a Kevin Smith on the team. You could have whatever shorthand is easiest for you to type/remember.

You can also "set due date to X from this time" or similar in the automation too, if desired.
