Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
I’ve been a Trello user for over 10 years and my account is now tied to an Atlassian login linked to an old Microsoft Live email that I no longer have access to.
I still know my password, but I’m completely locked out because MFA codes are being sent to that inaccessible email. I’ve also changed devices, so I don’t have a previously authenticated session anymore.
This account contains a lot of important personal data (including journal-style boards), so recovering access is really important to me.
I’ve attempted Microsoft account recovery but haven’t yet been successful.
Is there any way to:
• Reset MFA
• Update the email address
• Or escalate this case to Atlassian support
I’m happy to provide any verification needed (board names, activity history, etc.).
Thanks so much for any help — I really appreciate it.
Hi Emily! 👋
Welcome to the Atlassian Community! 😊
I completely understand how stressful it can be to lose access to an account, especially when it holds important data. I’m here to help guide you through the best steps to regain access. This guide offers some great tips: Troubleshooting two-step verification | Trello | Atlassian Support.
Due to our security policies, we aren't able to manually change the email address associated with your account. However, here are a few ways we can work around this:
Contact your former email provider: Your best first step is to see if your previous provider can restore access to that email address. Once it’s active again, you can easily reset your password here: Reset Atlassian Password.
Take a quick look to see if you are still logged into Trello on a mobile phone, tablet, or another browser. If you are, you can manually invite your new email address to your boards to ensure you don't lose your data.
If there are other members on your boards, you can ask them to add your new Trello account to those boards. This is often the fastest way to get back you data!
Thanks
