I have a repair service and I would like to create 12 catagories for types of repairs. How best to do that? The reason is to share service experience with other users. I will soon have multiple locations and I need to share between locations.

Hi David,

For 12 types of repairs, I’d use labels rather than separate lists. Trello labels are specifically designed to categorize cards, and a card can have more than one label if needed.

A practical structure would be:

  • Each repair/job = one card
  • Lists = repair status such as New, Diagnosing, Waiting for Parts, In Repair, Completed
  • 12 named labels = your 12 repair categories
  • One board per location once you expand
  • Keep all location boards in the same Workspace, which Trello recommends for related boards and teams.

One detail to keep in mind: labels belong to an individual board, so if you create separate boards for each location, the same 12 labels will need to exist on each board.

If you later want to see and analyze repairs from all locations together, you can also try Cross-Boards Dashboards:

It can be useful for a central overview while each location continues working on its own board.
