I am on a paid version and don't know why my mirror cards are showing up as link cards?

Carla Milks September 17, 2025

We have recently upgraded to the standard version, primarily for mirror cards.

When I am creating mirrors I often create it directly to a different board. All the boards are in the same workspace so they are all paid boards. Some of the Mirrors work and some don't and I don't know why.

I am primarily using the windows desktop version but it is doing it with the browser version as well. We have not moved to Windows 11. Don't know if that would make a difference.

At first if I went into task manager and ended the process then restarted they would usually show up as mirrors. This doesn't seem to be working anymore.

Hi Carla - From that screen shot it looks like an attachment has been added to the mirror card and once that happens it will cease to be a mirror card and be a regular card.  Might you have some automations running that are doing this?

That attachment is just connecting the Mirror to the original card. Is there another way to do that? When I click into the mirror on its own all it does is bring me to the board that it is on and with 100ish cards on a board I can't easily find the original.

Hi Carla - I'm curious how you were able to add that attachment, though?  Was that through automation?  You can't do that through the regular UI because when you open a mirror card you are effectively viewing the source/original card so adding an attachment there would not do what you are describing.

So unfortunately, any automation that is adding an attachment to the mirror card will cause it to cease being a mirror card.

If you click the board chip (the area that shows a square of the source board background with the source board & list name) that will take you to the source board and away from the board you are on.  However, if you click anywhere else on the mirror card front that will open it in place and not navigate you away from your current board.  Not sure if that is also helpful?

The attachments were on the original cards. So when the mirror is made the attachment is still available.

I have removed my automations and am doing it by hand :( That seems to fix the link card problem. I will have to work through the automation options to see how to make this work.

We use a lot of stickers and you can't put a sticker on the mirror card, it needs to be added to the original. So clicking into the board chip isn't ideal. Ideally I need to be able to either navigate back to the front of the card on the original board or be able to add stickers to a mirror.

I also looked at using the jpg files for the custom stickers that we use in the cover but the selection menu isn't universal so you have to do it all over again each for each card. Currently I am playing with the template card already having the 3 most used stickers loaded on to it as attachments so it is easy to change the cover to the sticker image and it works on the mirror.
