How to set a due date for an item on a checklist

I have action items listed in a checklist. Assuming I don't want to open a new card for every action item (since I do want them all under 1 list) - is there a way to set a due date for an item in a checklist?

No. A checklist really is a list of things to tick.

If you want more data per item, that's what sub-tasks are for.

I am using only Trello at the moment, not Jira - are sub tasks available in Trello?
