How do you stop Trello fading out old lists within boards?

Quoting Trello Help: "In regular mode, cards become progressively more transparent and “fade out” the longer they remain untouched." 

This makes them look really bad when they have photos in them. see below

I just created a board from a template, and lists are fading in and out depending on my dragging left or right (new list order), but I can't figure out the pattern / rule here.  Definitely not because it hasn't been touched in a while.

When you're using the Card Aging Power Up, cards face out the longer they go untouched.  This is essentially the purpose of Card Aging.  You can disable the power up to prevent your cards from fading out.
