How do I disable Trello’s “Add due dates as you write” feature?

Does anyone know how to disable Trello’s “Add due dates as you write” feature?

Whenever I type words like “tomorrow,” “Friday,” or a specific date in a card title, Trello automatically adds a due date to the card. I often include dates as plain text in my task titles, so I’d love to turn this feature off completely.

Is there a setting to disable automatic date recognition globally?

Hey @MariellaPaulino ,

There's a feature request for this: TRELLO-1826: Ability to Disable Due Date Suggestion when creating a card

In the workaround section, they've stated this:

Current Workarounds

Click the X to dismiss the suggestion in card composer mode.

Not sure if there's any other workaround you could use here 🫤

Cheers,

Hi @MariellaPaulino , Trello has no built-in feature that reads plain text in a card title and turns it into a due date, that idea is still an open feature request and hasn't shipped.

  • Check the board menu, Automation, Rules, for something shaped like "when a card name is added containing a date, set the due date". That's the documented workaround people configure to get exactly this behaviour, and it's the most likely cause here.
  • If no such rule turns up, check Workspace settings, Atlassian Intelligence. AI ships on by default on Standard and Premium Workspaces and can rewrite card content, it isn't officially scoped to due dates in titles, but it's worth ruling out too.

Either way it's a board or workspace setting, not a personal preference toggle.
