Does anyone know how to disable Trello’s “Add due dates as you write” feature?
Whenever I type words like “tomorrow,” “Friday,” or a specific date in a card title, Trello automatically adds a due date to the card. I often include dates as plain text in my task titles, so I’d love to turn this feature off completely.
Is there a setting to disable automatic date recognition globally?
Hey @MariellaPaulino ,
There's a feature request for this: TRELLO-1826: Ability to Disable Due Date Suggestion when creating a card
In the workaround section, they've stated this:
Current Workarounds
Click the X to dismiss the suggestion in card composer mode.
Not sure if there's any other workaround you could use here 🫤
Cheers,
Tobi
I am experiencing the same "feature," and find it aggravating that I cannot write out my cards and hit enter without having to either mouse-click the X to dismiss or go back into the card to remove errant due dates that are not due dates at all. This should be an optional feature, as in, you should have to opt-in to the feature, not opt-out because your workflow is being derailed by something you didn't ask for.

Hi @MariellaPaulino , Trello has no built-in feature that reads plain text in a card title and turns it into a due date, that idea is still an open feature request and hasn't shipped.
Either way it's a board or workspace setting, not a personal preference toggle.

I'm afraid you're wrong there!
I came across this discussion from a Google search because I am struggling with this problem in the same way as the original poster.
If I create a card called something like "Check the agenda for tomorrow's meeting" then Trello will automatically remove the words "for tomorrow's" from the sentence, so the card reads "Check the agenda meeting" and it will set the due date as tomorrow's date.
It's extremely frustrating!!
In this example, the task needed to be done today, so Trello has automatically edited a perfectly functional card title to create a nonsensical title with the incorrect due date.
This automation causes many more problems than it solves.
