How can we create a new card and copy some of the custom fields to the new card?

It seems that there was previously an action to allow “copy card” in automations. But this seems to no longer be available. I want to set up a card button to create a new card in a different board and then copy over 3 of the custom fields and the title.

i would be happy to copy the whole card, but there are many custom fields that  are not relevant to the new card. So this is an option, but not my preferred outcome.

mirroring the card is not an option as I require different automations and new custom fields on the new card.

is there anyone that can tell me if this is possible to achieve? Thanks.

When you copy a card either manually or via automation, the card will copy any custom field that is filled in on the source board to the destination. If the custom field on the card is empty, the field is not copied.

You can set up a card button to create a new card on a different board and manually copy just the title and 3 custom fields using automation actions. This is the best way to avoid copying irrelevant fields and keep automations separate. It’s a bit manual, but it gives you full control over what gets transferred. @Jason

Thanks. Yes this is what we are currently doing until we find an automated way to copy the fields. I really dont understand why they have taken away the ability to copy in automations.
