How can I make new rules apply to existing cards?

I've created rules and applied them to a board that already has existing cards. How can I now direct the rules to be applied to these existing cards when they pop up on the board?

The rules are working when I create a new card, I just want to apply the rule retroactively to existing cards.

I don't think you can make a rule run without its trigger happening.

You don't mention what it is you want to happen to the existing card, but if it is something common, then free a batch update tool like this: https://trellotools.azurewebsites.net/BatchUpdate might get you in the right state with the existing cards prior to you rules takimg over
