How can I best update checklists w/o deleting the initial task listed in the checklist?

Hi! I've created a checklist w/n a card which lists several subtasks. I'm wondering how I can note down updates for that specific subtask within the checklist without deleting the subtask itself....

E.g. Subtask: Draft X document and review with Y person. I would like to be able to comment to this specific task and say "sent draft to Y person on 5/27, no response yet"

Is that something that's possible or what would the workaround be?

I'm assuming I could write it in the activity section, but since there are several subtasks and multiple teams, I'm afraid it will be hard to distinguish which comment was meant for which task down the line. 

Any thoughts?
