I'm using Trello since 2023 and the search engine was never great but working fine with some work around. I've just started using the last version and now the search engine has got even worse.
My Trello is organized this way:
I create a new card for every customer...each card has a progression number, a telephone number, an email, a name, a description of the job.
In this way, no matter what my customer says I can(or I should) be able to find their card with all the info I need.
The problem is that when you have 667 cards, as I do, if the customer send you a message and you only have their telephone number, there is no way for Trello to find anything. Every time I have to ask "do you remember your card number?" or "Sorry, WHATS YOUR NAME?" which is definitely NOT a great customer experience...
I was able to find the cards by searching the last 4 digits of the phone number(which worked most of the timed was my saving grace) but now it stopped working.
The search seems to be a little bit better with name...better than before because even that was always reliable.

I wanted to let you know that I’ve been looking into the issue you mentioned regarding partial search functionality. It seems there have been some internal changes to the search feature, and there’s currently an open request to bring back some of the older functionalities, including the one you're referring to.

In the meantime, I recommend leaving a comment on the Jira ticket to show your support and raise interest in this feature being reinstated.
As an alternative, I found a Power-Up that may help. It worked well for me, and they offer a free trial so you can see if it resolves your issue:

I have to say...searching by the name definitely sucks almost as much as searching the telephone number.
This is a big problem for me because I have to search one by one dozens of cards...

@Andrea Marcellan I hear you, it is great having the engineers look to refine and maintain Trello for today, but changing key components like a search engine is ludicrous...
I could search from any board, but not anymore as the search within the boards are now kicking us out of the board and back to the dashboard which has to be refreshed for every new search you do, then you have to wade through all items that are close but not relevant to your search, the Dashboard maintains the old details everytime and does not bring the most current information forward either.
I have over 400 cards on each one of my 15 boards that I run in any given quarter, so the search engine needs to be restored for what is was - the new version is simply cluncky, out of date and a huge time waster!!
