I’m seeing an intermittent issue where some cards with due dates don’t appear in my Cards (My Cards) list on either desktop or mobile on the days they’re due. They only show up a couple of days later, already marked as overdue.
What’s happening
I check both desktop and phone daily (Due Today/Overdue).
Some cards that are due today don’t appear in my Cards list at all (desktop or phone).
1-2 days later, the same cards suddenly appear in the list with the due date in the past (e.g., “Due 2 days ago”).
Expected vs actual
Expected: Any card assigned to me with a due date should appear in the Cards list on its due date (and after, if overdue).
Actual: Some due-today cards are absent from the list on both desktop and mobile, then appear 1-2 days later as overdue.
Is anyone able to offer insights on how to resolve this?
Hi there,
What you are describing sounds like a sync/indexing lag between Trello’s global database and the specific "My Cards" view. It is frustrating when the system only recognizes an item once it’s already overdue.
Here are a few steps to investigate and potentially resolve this:
Check Time Zone Consistency: Go to your Atlassian Account Settings (id.atlassian.com) and verify your time zone. Then, check your computer and mobile device time zones. If there is a mismatch (even by an hour), Trello's "Due Today" logic can get confused, pushing cards into a "limbo" state until they are definitively overdue.
Verify "Watch" Settings: Sometimes cards only appear reliably in certain views if you are Watching the card or the board. While being "Assigned" should be enough, try "Watching" one of the problematic boards to see if the sync priority improves.
Global Indexing Issue: Trello's "My Cards" view is a consolidated search result. Occasionally, the indexer that gathers these cards can hang. A quick way to "force" an update is to change the Due Date by one minute and save it; this often forces the global indexer to re-scan that card immediately.
Third-Party Power-Ups: Are you using any Power-Ups that manage dates or calendars (like Cronofy or Planyway)? Sometimes these external tools can interfere with how Trello's native API flags a card as "Due."
Next Step Recommendation: Since this is intermittent and affects both mobile and desktop, it’s likely a backend issue. I recommend taking a screenshot of a card that is due today but missing from your list, and then another one when it appears as overdue. You can then open a support ticket with Trello so they can check your specific account's heartbeat on their servers.
I hope this gets sorted out so you can stay on top of your tasks!
