This community posts mostly in English, because it's the language most of us have in common.
But there is no "rule" that we do that. By all means, write your questions in French, or any other language in which you are fluent. People will see it and if they can read it, they will try to help. Many of us try to help via translation tools, when we see stuff we can't read natively. I dp think some stuff gets lost in translation, but most answerers do make it clear that they are using a translation tool. (My preference is to write an answer in English, then paste a translation into the questioners language below. I have no idea if that works for people, beyond a couple of "thank you" comments and no complaints about it)
I would rather see a problem description written well in your own natural language than a ask you to try to write it up in a language you're not comfortable in. A clear and honest description is the best option, irrespective of the language.
So,TLDR: ask your question in the language you write in best. The community will pick up the rest.
