Has there been a way developed to stop notifications from different Boards in different work spaces?

While my position requires me to have work space / board access - I want to be able to stop notifications for boards in different work spaces but still be able to look at the boards in those work spaces.

I recommend reading through our help doc on notifications in case you haven't already: https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/receiving-trello-notifications/

If you wish to stop being notified for a certain board, then I would make sure that you are not watching that board or any cards/lists on it. Otherwise, you will still be notified if you are added to cards on that board, tagged on that board, etc.
