Is there away to update Trello boards and suppress sending the updates to people on the board.  Some updates just need to be on the board and do not need to be communicated to everyone on the board.  As an example we may add a due date that doesn't need to go out to everyone as the due date will automatically show up at the time due

@Matt Wasilefsky being notified is configurable by each user. It's up to them what they watch (boards, lists or cards) whether they get notified only via the app or via email also.

In my view there are too many notifications by default, so I created BenkoBoard which unsubscribes you from any card you're added to:

http://www.benkoboard.com/

This means you only get notified about being added to a card or mentioned in a comment by name. It creates a card for each of those notifications in a central inbox so you can see your notifications across all boards and prioritise them (it also allows you to connect Gmail so you can have all your comms in one spot).

To me, this is the right amount of notifications, and allows you to have audible notifications turned on in the Trello app. If there are specific events for which a notification is required beyond these 2 basic scenarios, then you can always use automations to trigger a card comment or email for those specific cases.
