Enable markdown mode

I would like to know how to enable markdown mode in card Description field:

Up-right corner, there is M↓ but that allows only read. Is there a way to enable also editing in that mode?

Welcome to the Community! Currently editing markdown directly is not possible with Trello. There was this request (https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/TRELLO-601) that the Atlassian team closed with this explanation:

The primary reason for this decision is that Trello uses a common editor across Atlassian products, which does not support markdown.
