Email reminders not working

In Trello I'm setting due dates for cards within boards which I've setup. I've given due date, set the card to watch, card says complete, set the board to watch, but still don't get email reminders. Really frustrating - have just missed an important deadline due to this.

If Trello is no good for this, can anyone suggest an alternative software program?
