Disable/Enable custom field

Is it possible to disable a custom field to prevent modification?

@SimoneV you can't "lock" a field value to prevent it from being modified, any board member has the ability to modify any element of the board with a couple of exceptions (board membership/settings etc)

There might be a way to achieve what you need, what's the use case?
