This issue has been going on for literally years unresolved (first experienced pre-2023 at least, I asked support at the time but no resolution).
When working across 2 screens, you have to click somewhere in the Trello desktop app BEFORE selecting a card, otherwise it picks up a random card from the same list.
With a busy board this is very disruptive, as you end up moving things out of order or losing where things are.
Dual monitor / extended monitors seems to come up a lot across different bugs on here. Please could someone look into this part of the functionality and get it working smoothly and as expected? Many thanks!

This looks for me like a Trello desktop app focus or display scaling bug tied to multi-monitor setups. First, test if the same issue happens in a web browser.
If it is exclusive to the desktop app, try matching the scaling percentages across your monitors in your OS settings, resetting local data via the app's Help menu, or simply clicking inside the window once to establish focus before dragging.
I recommend opening a bug report with Trello Support including your OS and layout details, using the web version as a reliable workaround for now.
