Hello! The latest changes to Trello happened a few days back. I'm not liking them. I was a keen Trello user (it's a key part of my daily routine) and I'm seriously thinking to quit soon.

Some of the changes I don't like:

  • The cards look so much smaller now... I used to see a lot more content on the laptop but now the viewing area has shrunk. It's frustrating.
  • Comments are not available now. At least have them available when needed? Many of the cards had information information in comments because of how Trello was, and now they are not available. To do so, it appears that I need to have a premium account...
  • It's a lot harder to switch boards.
  • There is the little window below for automation and power-ups. If I ever need them, it would be occasional use, not all the time. So the window should not be there.

Is there a way to revert to Trello before the latest changes?

Hi Cuifen,

Thank you for reaching out to the Trello community!

I'm sorry to hear that accessing the new Trello interface is confusing. We recently launched the new Trello, which brings a range of new personal productivity features to help you be your most productive self!

  • While Trello's card back was redesigned to improve the visibility of relevant information on the card (as well as its usability), that shouldn't impact the size of the card itself. However, we do have a feature request in place to allow users to resize the card according to the requirements. You can access it here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/TRELLO-1369
  • The comments and activity section is still there. There's just a different way to access it. Open any card and click on the comment and activity button in the navigation bar at the bottom of the card. The comments will appear on the right-hand side of the card
  • You can refer to the section "Switch boards" in the document Navigate Trello for detailed steps on how you can switch within the boards in the new navigation. You can even pin the board switcher as a sidebar on your Trello board for better navigation.
  • The place for the automation buttons and power-ups is the navigation bar for the cards. There is no way to remove it as it holds the necessary features of a card. We have a feature request raised with the development team to allow users to reposition the navigation bars: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/TRELLO-1303

Regarding reverting to the old version of Trello, I want to clarify that we're focusing on building Trello with personal productivity in mind, and the new features align with this vision. Therefore, we are gradually rolling out the new interface for all users. I understand that right now, you are having challenges with it, but once you get the hang of it, you will like it more than our previous version.

I hope this information helps!

Regards,

Appreciate the response, Lipakshi! And yes, I might start to like the changes once I get used to them. The change was rather abrupt (no warning), so the changes were very obvious.

I hope the card resizing gets a work-around! I feel I get to see a lot more content previously. Now, I have to scroll vertically to see more than a few lines of content.

I would also like to express my thoughts on all of this. Trello responds, but clearly doesn’t care what users think or want. I’ve had the Premium version for years and wasn’t biased even during the mess of the beta version, but forcing users into something they didn’t want in beta — that’s strange. Just admit it didn’t work. And Butler? Function limitations and terrible execution. Nothing works like it used to. More clicks, and instead of improving functionality, just cosmetic changes. Why is it still impossible to work with data in lists and connect Butler to them or move cards based on that? Users have been asking for years — nothing. This update? Nobody asked for it, but it happened instantly. I’m honestly disappointed, and you’re really pushing users to leave
