Custom fields

When creating custom fields, they all seem to be visible before the card is open. This means the cards themselves are very large when in the column of all cards. Is it possible to have the custom fields visible only when a card is opened.? So only the card title is visible before opened?

Welcome to the community, the quick solution would be to edit the custom field and change the show field option for the custom field.
