Hi Team,
I want to create a branded custom background for our internal company boards via custom board backgrounds.
I find it hard to get the dimensions right so the background looks right (not stretched, blurry etc).
Is there any way to understand what the right dimensions of an image needs to be?
Hey Laura!
First of all, welcome to the Atlassian community! I hope you're enjoying your stay so far.
That's a complicated answer, but I'll try my best to explain it. The way Trello works with board backgrounds is admittedly a bit complicated. The part of Trello responsible for handling board backgrounds behaves differently depending on the image size you upload.
And so, I've talked with some of the developers responsible for the backgrounds. They recommend cropping and scaling your image to the exact browser dimensions you use when using Trello. This will ensure the background image will fit perfectly on the board background.
To determine the image dimensions, you should use for your board background, follow these steps:
This should put you in the right direction to create your custom board backgrounds.
Sadly, this is now outdated as that website is no longer available.
The problem is, its stretching the image, even if the image is larger than your given resolution.
I should be able to upload a 4k image, and while using 1440 (2k) the image should compress down to that size without distortion.
This image shows how its cutting off the image, that is larger than the workspace.
It should scale down automatically to match the users desktop size.
My screen is 1440, and this image is 1440 - and yet, its not pulling it in to fill the space.
When I use an image thats 1080 it does this.
ok.. its EXACTLY the same, just a little blurrier because its stretching it.
please ask your devs to make sure "background space accounts for the task bar space" - this way, it wil pull the image up and fit it in without clipping.
BTW - The actual 1440 has a lot of space being cut off.
