I do not think that something is wrong with your plan that you use..
It is more a common problem that something suddenly not working on Desktop but it is on Web.. There were couple of situations like this in the past..
Example:
In order to troubleshoot would be good to verify what OS and Desktop app version you have.. Maybe reinstalling the app would help?

OK and you probably do not have ability to test same version of an app but on a different OS / computer?
Wondering if anything specific to you environment like firewall of antivirus might block something here.. Probably not but it is always good to try same thing on a different system.. similar to check web versions on a different browser.
If not then probably we would have to request for Atlassian assistance...
