Is it possible to associate one or more checklist items with a comment? The image below illustrates what I have in mind.

No Trello doesn't support comments on individual checklist items, comments are strictly card-level. While items can have assigned members and due dates on paid plans, they don't get their own discussion threads.

For items requiring discussion, reference them in the card comment or convert them into separate cards.
