Card repeater - how to use and remove cards when done?

I use Trello as a To-do list.  I'd like to add repeating cards (things I should  monthly, yearly, weekly, etc).  However, if I delete my card after I finished that project, the card repeater doesn't repeat the card.  How is this suppose to repeat if I delete a card (aka task) when it's done?

Just to confirm, are you permanently deleting those cards, or archiving? (https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/archiving-and-deleting-cards/)

If you are permanently deleting those cards, the Card Repeater Power-Up will no longer on those cards. However, if those cards are archived instead, they'll still repeat.
