Card disappears just after hitting Enter.

Hello,

I'm new to Trello.

When a user creates a card with her name on it in a shared Trello board, once she presses Enter to confirm creation, the card disappears from the list and becomes invisible to the creator.

A filter setting must then be used to make it reappear. A few days ago, the behavior was different: the created card was generic, remained visible, and the user could assign it to herself afterwards.

Is there a wrong parameter, or is it an expected behaviour after latest Trello service update ?

Thanks.

Hi @jordan_dearaujo , nothing is broken and no setting is permanently wrong: the board has a filter switched on, so a newly created card that doesn't match it drops out of view the moment it's saved. That's the whole effect you're seeing, and it fits the card carrying a member's name, since the active filter is almost certainly a member filter and a card that doesn't match it gets hidden.

Clearing the filter stops it. At the top of the board open the Filter button, which stays highlighted while a filter is active, and choose Clear all; new cards then stay put no matter who they're assigned to. Where it lives is covered in filtering cards on a board.

Somehow, until quite recently, this used to work perfectly without causing any issues. I work with an extremely crowded board alongside several other people simultaneously. Because of this, the ideal setup for me is to keep the filter set to my user at all times, allowing me to focus solely on my own tasks. On top of that, I am the person responsible for creating and assigning tasks, and I’ve been in this role for at least two years using Trello as my main tool.

Therefore, I can confirm that, previously, I would keep my board filtered to my user and still be able to create new cards. They would remain active among my tasks without disappearing right away, which allowed me to open the card, build out all its content, and assign it to the specific team members. Those cards would only disappear from my view due to the active filter once I refreshed the page. This made my workflow incredibly smooth. Now, I have to clear my filter every single time I need to log a new task, which severely disrupts my workflow.

It would be highly appreciated if we could revert to the previous behavior.

I'm only replying to advocate for the old behaviour.

Having the filters not applied immediately, was very comfortable to use.

This new way of doing it, may reduce internal complexity and even reflect your specification more closely, but if this was a bug, it was a really useful one.

Please consider bringing back the old behaviour.

To be clear, I'm an Atlassian Partner answering in the Community, not someone who can change Trello's product behavior. What I described above is just how the current filter logic works, not a decision I made.

If you'd like the old behavior back, the right place to push for that is a feature request to Trello directly, that's what actually gets tracked and considered by the team that owns this.
