Cannot remove a member that is no longer employed

I am admin for one of my Workspaces and cannot remove a member that is no longer employed by my company. When following the instructions in this article (Remove a member from a Workspace | Trello | Atlassian Support), I get an error message stating, "Couldn't remove (User's Name). Try again."
