After 3 years of pretty much trouble free use of Trello, we suddenly cannot change due tae for cards. If we add a due date manually it will just set to the current time. Any ideas?

Yes, working again by closing/reopening the program as recommended in a google search. My language setting is US English.

how were you typing the time into the text input?
I was typing the time by clicking in the time box and typing: "1:00 PM," but it would revert back to 11:56 AM, the time the card was created.  Weird and frustrating.

While I have your attention, is there anything you can do to making "enter" = single spacing rather that double spacing. This is another post by me a few years ago with many agreeing that this feature is annoying.

Thank you for your response to my "time" issue.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, others and I are aware of the shift+enter for single line, but this was not necessary prior to early 2022.  Also, a single spaced list copied from an outside source that is pasted into an ACTIVITY box morphs to double space.  Annoying.

G'day Mary!

To your spacing question, you can press Shift+Enter to create a new line with less spacing across all Atlassian products in the rich text editor.

As a little bit of context: The editor works this way in Trello to follow the existing convention that used to be present in the vast majority other rich text editors like Microsoft Word, and Google Docs— where pressing enter would denote a new paragraph by default, rather than just a new line. It looks like that functionality is less common in those editors now than it used to be, so we may evaluate changing this behavior in our editor in the future.

For now, I would recommend using the existing shortcut (Shift+Enter) to create new lines with less spacing. As a fun tip, you can also use this shortcut while in a bulleted list to create a new line for an item without creating a new bullet alongside it. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, we'll continue to monitor the thread you linked.

Thanks for additional info.  I'm glad it's working now.  If you see it happen again, it would be super helpful to know more about the circumstances around it.  Like, was the tab idle for a long period, where you disconnected from the internet and reconnected, etc.  Anything out of the ordinary around the scenario would be helpful in diagnosing the root cause.  Also, see if other input formats might work, such as "1p" or "13:00", etc.  That could help us explore what aspect of the input isn't working.

For the spacing issue, I'm not familiar with that.  Do you have a link to the original post so I can look get additional context?

Sorry if I didn't articulate the ask well.  I just meant how were you typing the time into the text input (and if possible a screenshot of what that looks like before changing focus).  And for language settings, I meant in Trello.  Under the user icon, there's a settings, which has a "Change Language" option.  Just curious if you're using US English, or a different language option.

But, you're saying that it's working again?

@Mary Grace Basco would it be possible to share what format you're using to enter the time (a screencap would be awesome)?  Also, what language settings are you using for Trello?

I can set a due date, but can no longer set a due time!!  My cards are used for preparing for many meetings--each with its own due date and time.  I cannot change the time. It defaults to the time the card is created. Why?

G'day Tom!

I'm a developer on Trello. We recently did some work on the UI behind the due date panel, but we haven't heard of any issues with the UI not working, or allowing you to set a specific date/time. I just tested it locally to double check, and was able to set a few different dates, so it appears to be working. Can you confirm if you're still running into this issue?

Marta Thor April 22, 2025

Hello, my team is experiencing issues with setting the due date time as well for a while now. Both members can't set another due date, which is annoying, when you're using it for social media planning and sometimes need to reschedule a post. We compared our workflow, my collegue is doing the exact same thing as I am - but when I change the time it sticks. Hers will always be set back to the original time. Any troubleshooting on that?

@martha Are you able to share a screen recording or screenshot of the input that's failing to stick?  That would help with reproducing.  Also, what locale / language settings is your team member using?

Marta Thor April 22, 2025

Sure, try this link: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/1dkq5punmap3mdrlii2mc/Screenrecording_Trello_Duedate_fail.mp4?rlkey=j2934mupct8rzvdo0ckf4o2wi&st=dy39cwhu&dl=0

They're probably using German settings, but so do I and it works perfectly fine.

Thanks for sharing that.  It looks like that one stuck, which means it was probably your computer?  If you're able to confirm the language settings of a person where it's not working, that would be helpful.  And also, is there any cases where it does apply for them, or does it just never work, no matter how they enter the time?  For instance, what if they use "1:00" or just "1", does anything persist for them?

Hi Michael, this is my screen recording. I can not adjust the time, when I create a new card in Trello. When I make copies of existing cards and then change the date, it always works. The way I enter the number or time doesn't change the outcome unfortunately, Ive tried everything.

@Julia Trippo Thanks for the info.  The screen recording that Marta shared is showing a case where the date does save correctly.  Do you have one that shows when it doesn't?  It would be helpful to see the full workflow. (e.g. create the card, try and set the date).  I just want to make sure I'm understanding the steps to reproduce, since I've been unable to reproduce it on my side so far.  And just to confirm, you're using the German language setting?

Yes, I took a video, I hope it shows the problems I am facing:

Hi,

I have the same problem with not being able to change the time for a card. I am using UK settings. Every attempt to change the time results in it reverting back to the time the card was created. This is very frustrating. Can this be fixed as a priority please. I make use of Trello for managing many workstreams each with different requirements and time deadlines. This was working really well for me up until this issue.

@Julia Trippo Hi Julia. I'm still having trouble recreating this internally.  But I did just notice something in your video that's different from what it should be.  For the German locale, the time format should be 24-hour time, rather than 12-hour time with AM/PM.  For example, here's a screenshot of a testing board with the German locale turned on, and you can see that formatting is 24-hour time.

Screenshot 2025-06-06 at 12.19.33 PM.png

But in your video, the format is in 12-hour time.

Screenshot 2025-06-06 at 12.20.01 PM.png

I also noticed that the date on the card back isn't formatting correctly either

Screenshot 2025-06-06 at 12.22.51 PM.png

This is what the German locale date / time format should look like

Screenshot 2025-06-06 at 12.23.37 PM.png

So, something is going on where Trello is not getting the appropriate locale from your browser in certain cases.  You mentioned that you selected German as the language in your Atlassian settings.  Is there a possibility that your browser's language settings are different?  Or possibly some extension that's changing the formatting of dates?  Also, what browser are you using?

Thanks for your comment Michael. I have just checked and I now seem to be able to change it both in Firefox and Chrome. What was happening is that when I wanted to change the time (marked in red circle) this was in AM/PM format and when I changed it it kept reverting back to the time I created the card. As I say this now seems to work.

Could this have been an old setting associated with my account which has now correctly synced to my current setting?

Thanks

@Dr Dave Wyatt I'm beginning to wonder if that's the case.  Possibly a setting out of sync with larger Atlassian.  Glad to hear it's working now!
