I'm following the steps to change my email address on my account. After I receive the verification email, it wants me to login with my new email address and password. I'm assuming the password is the same as what I've been using, so I enter that in but it tells me the password is incorrect. So then, I tried using the password reset and I never get an email (I assume this is because this new email address hasn't been verified). I'm wondering if the password issue is a problem because I do have it currently set up to login via google and using a password. But if that's the case, how do I get my new email address connected to my account?

The email is not linked to any other account. It's never been used for any atlassian products as it's a fairly new email address. When I try to "reset the password" an email never comes through at all—I'm assuming because it's not in the system.

I understand you’d like to update the email address on your Atlassian account, but based on your description the new email is already linked to another account.
To proceed, you’ll need to temporarily free up the desired email address by changing it on the account where it’s currently in use. Here’s what to do:
Log in to the account currently using the desired email address.
Change its email address to a different (third) email and verify it.
Log in to your original account and update it to use the now-available email address.
