Can a button be programed to delete comments automatically?

I'd like to add a function to an existing button to delete a previous comment.  For example:

When the permit is approved, I'd like the previous comments (permit ready for review and permit under review) to be deleted.  Is that possible?  

This would help keep the comment feed low.

You can't delete comments but you could potentially do this a different way.

If you are using comments to post a status, you could use a status custom field to do so:
