Bug: Unable to Modify Repeat Settings on Old Cards

For the last several years, modifying the repeat settings for cards (within the "Repeating Cards" power up) has worked reasonably well. But something has broke it recently. When I click the "Repeating cards" drop down in the main Trello board screen and choose a card from the list to modify the repeat settings, there's three bugs:

  • Repeating cards do not show the "Next repeat" date when opened

  • When opening the "Repeat" settings on these cards, the settings are blank (ie. no days are selected)

  • When modifying the repeat settings (above) and clicking "Save", the saving process seems broken. Instead of it saving and the dialog disappearing, the dialog remains open, and the changes do not appear to save.

This does not affect new cards, only the 14 cards I set up as repeating many weeks/months ago.

The actual repeating functionality still seems to be working (cards are appearing on their set days). I just cannot modify the rules without deleting and recreating them.

Can others replicate this same issue? You will need to have old repeating cards (new ones do not seem to exhibit this issue).

Appears to occur in Chrome browser for Win/Mac, and iOS Safari. (Modifying repeat settings is not possible in iOS app.)

Hi  @Simon , :)
Hope you are doing well,
Welcome to the community!
Thanks for taking the time to report this and for including details about which cards are affected and which browsers you've tested on. That kind of context really helps us dig in faster.

You're right that this looks like a bug. Based on my search, what you're seeing seems to be caused by the UI falling out of sync with the server's stored data, which explains why your 14 older cards are affected while newly created repeating cards work fine.

Here are a few things worth trying while our engineering team works on a fix:

  1. Incognito/Private window: Open the board in an Incognito window and try modifying the repeat settings there. If it works, that suggests a conflict with local storage or a browser extension.

  2. Toggle the repeat setting off and back on: For the affected cards, try disabling the "Repeat" setting and then re-enabling it. This can sometimes re-establish the link between the card and its recurring rule in the database.

Thanks.
