We run a damp proofing and timber treatment company with a small team that carries out property surveys and remedial work across multiple sites. At the moment, our job scheduling and reporting is mostly done through spreadsheets and WhatsApp messages, which is getting increasingly difficult to manage as we take on more work.
We've been looking at Trello as a possible solution for tracking jobs from initial enquiry through to completion. Our workflow typically looks something like this: customer enquiry comes in, surveyor visits the property, survey report is written up, remedial work is scheduled, and then follow-up inspections are booked.
We need something that the office team and field surveyors can both access easily, ideally from a mobile device. Has anyone here set up Trello for a similar kind of field services operation? We'd be really interested to hear what worked well and what pitfalls to avoid.
Any recommendations on board structure, automation rules, or useful power-ups would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
Hi @Dampness And Rot _Glasgow_ and welcome to the community
Trello is a very flexible tool to start with and you can add more functionality as you need in form of additional fields and power-ups.
It is really hard to give any general recommendations other than not to overcomplicate things using a zillion custom fields and stuff that no one will use in the end.
Start by drawing your process on paper to get a grip on the information needed and the possible flow of work. Start with the basics and add more complexity as needed.
There are several great tutorials on youtube where you can learn more about Trello
Sorry for not being more specific
