I have a problem, when I copy the frame from a template that has automation, the copy of the frame does not activate the automation.
Hi there,
This is a common point of confusion in Trello. The reason this is happening is that Automations (Butler) are board-specific. When you copy a card or a frame from a template, Trello copies the data (text, checklists, attachments) but it does not copy the "Rules" or "Buttons" associated with the original board.
To resolve this, here are two ways to handle it:
1. The Standard Trello Way (Manual Fix)
You need to manually enable the automation on the new board:
Go to Automation > Rules (or Buttons).
Find the rule you used in the template.
Click "Add to Board" or ensure the rule is enabled for the specific workspace where your copy is located.
2. The Hipporello Advantage (If you are using Hipporello)
If you are using Hipporello Service Desk or Process Automation, you have a more robust way to handle this:
Hipporello Forms: Instead of copying frames, use a Hipporello Form to create the card. You can set up the automation within the Hipporello admin dashboard so that every time a form is submitted, the automation triggers regardless of which board it lands on.
Shared Power-Up Settings: Hipporello's internal automations (like status changes or auto-replies) are often tied to the Power-Up configuration rather than Trello’s native Butler. Check your Hipporello Admin panel to ensure the "Target Board" for your automation is correctly updated to the new copy.
My Recommendation:
If you frequently copy frames/templates and need the automation to "just work," I highly suggest moving that specific logic into a Hipporello Automation. Unlike Trello's native Butler, Hipporello's rules can be more easily managed across different forms and service desks.
Hope this helps you get your workflow back in sync!
