Automation Quotas

Belinda Bendon August 3, 2025

We have a free Trello account and we have 7 automations to run daily.  The automation is: every day, sort the list "Sent to Client, invoiced & filed" by name ascending

If there are only these automations enabled 7 times, then why by 3 days into the month we have exceeded our 250 run quota?? I really don't understand, especially as 2 of these 3 days were a weekend where no one has been in Trello.

These 7 automations are across 2 boards - 6 on 1 board and 1 on another.

How are these automations counted?

Hi @Belinda Bendon ,

A "run" is counted each time an automation is triggered, not the number of automations created. You can view your Workspace’s automation quota usage from any board in the Workspace.

To open the usage log:

  1. Open any board in a Workspace, then open the board menu

  2. Select Automation

  3. Select Activity

  4. Select the Workspace activity tab

You’ll also find the the number of automation runs and operations that have been used this month.

You’ll also find the Workspace name, and the plan that Workspace is subscribed to. The automation quota is determined by the Workspace’s plan.

For more info on command runs, operations and automation quota's, see this article below:

Thanks Nivedhya,

This still doesn't make any sense to me. Does this run on calendar month?

If I go to my activity log, I see 27 completed runs before it exceeds the '250 allowed automations'.  There are no other automations on any other boards or lists.

I'm sorry, I just don't get it!

Hi @Belinda Bendon

Trello’s automation quota, such as the 250 runs limit, resets on a calendar month basis, starting fresh on the 1st of each month. Each time an automation (a Butler rule, command, or scheduled action) is triggered and completes, it counts as one run. This includes automations triggered by any user on any board in the workspace where the quota applies.

You mentioned seeing 27 completed runs in your activity log, but the numbers might not match because the log shows completed runs for the current board only. It may not reflect all runs across all boards. Additionally, some automations might be triggered by other users or on other boards, including archived ones. Scheduled or recurring automations also count toward the quota.

To troubleshoot, I recommend double-checking all boards, including closed or archived ones, for active automations. Keep in mind that automations triggered by any member on a board count toward the quota.

I hope this helps clarify things.
