Archived Cards were deleted

Hi, I have been using Trello for a few months now to keep track of things.  After the item is finished, I archive the card instead of deleting them in the event that I need to bring them back, and I'd like to retain all of the information from the previous card.

However, I've noticed that recently, some of the archived cards could not be found (with the search tool).  From what I understand, the archived should be the system indefinitely and can be found by the search bar.  Is my understanding incorrect?  Please advise.  Thanks in advance!

You can look at all your archived cards by going to the board menu (click on three dots on top right) and then click on "Archived items".
