I use Trello to manage different types of professional files within the same board. Each list represents a different type of work (e.g., Successions, Personal Tax, Corporate Reorganizations).
Currently, Custom Fields are available for every card on the board, even when they only apply to one list. This makes boards cluttered and less efficient.
It would be extremely useful to allow Custom Fields to be assigned to specific lists only. Cards would automatically inherit the appropriate fields based on the list they belong to, while keeping the flexibility to move cards between lists if needed.
This would greatly improve Trello for professionals who manage multiple workflows within the same board.

This is a cool idea!

Hey @Stephanie Therrien @Desiree Pierce, jumping in here too, a bit late! This is definitely something that Amazing Fields can solve.
Amazing Fields lets you set a field's visibility using a formula by using one of the available card context variables "card.listName." So you could set up a formula on a field like the one below, and it'll only show up on cards in that list:
card.listName == "In Progress"
You can do this per field, so each "type of work" list can end up with just the fields relevant to it.

Jumping in on this older post, has anyone tried any creative workarounds to achieve list-specific custom fields in Trello? I'm curious if there are any new power-ups or integrations that might help with more granular customizations. I'd love to hear any updates or suggestions!
