Adding inline images as attachments to Trello card when using Trello Gmail Addon

Gabrielius September 13, 2023

Hi everyone,

I wondered if anyone needed to include inline images in Gmail mails to a Trello card when using Trello Gmail Addon. Sometimes, an email contains an inline image and it is not added as an attachment when creating a Trello card using Trello GMail Addon -- they are simply stripped out. That makes me sad. For me personally, it would be a super feature, if these were attached automatically because then I wouldn't need to download them by hand and attach them manually to that Trello card later. Everything could be done from the same browser tab, in the Gmail portal. Does anyone need this feature as well, or is it just me?

Hi @Gabrielius👋

Christl from the Email for Trello Power-Up here. Welcome to the community!

You are not alone! Some users want to attach the inline images to the card, but some don't. That is why we have a feature that allows you to choose how to handle inline images. Check out our article for more info: Handling images in email content

Great thing is, it is a mailbox setting, meaning that you can choose which board you want to apply it to (you will of course need to have the Power-Up added to the board for this feature).

You're welcome to pop over any questions to hello@sendboard.com or simply add the Email for Trello Power-Up to give it a try with a free trial.

Hope that helps!

Hi Gabrielius,

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Right now, the feature to include attachments when creating cards via the Gmail Add-on is indeed unavailable. We actually have it as an open feature request for the product team to consider! I'll add you as an official "+1" in support of this. Let me know if you have any other feedback you'd like me to share with the team on this topic!

If you're curious about how our team decides on what requests we work on, we've also published a blog post with more detailed and visual information here: https://blog.trello.com/feature-requests-unite-support-and-product

Thank you Alina for your response. Is it possible to somehow monitor that feature request? I would like to see how it all ends up, eventually. Thank you, once again.

Thanks for raising this question!

Currently, Trello feature request tickets are not publicly available, so sadly you won't be able to follow the resolution. But this is something we have under consideration for the future 🙂

I understand this may not be the answer you hoped for, but I hope this brings a little more clarity to the matter.
