I know you want to take your time as Markdown is only 22.5 years old but Trello is one of the more popular tools on the internet and should properly implement this also popular brand new style.

This forum is even more fucked up than trello. The UI is horrible. Your link does jump me to a thread about adding tables. The browser extension mentioned there does not exist anymore.

This is no longer trello, an agile startup. That is a slow moving, much charging Atlassian which treats Trello as 3rd tier product to force everyone into Jira (which also can't do markdown).
